Oral Cancer Screening

Oral Cancer Screening

An oral cancer screening is an exam that our dentists perform in office.

During the oral cancer screening, your dentist is looking for abnormal lesions or unusual appearances in the mouth. The dentist is looking for any signs of oral cancer.

Tobacco use (smoking and chewing, etc), certain strains of HPV, and alcohol. have shown to increase the risk of oral cancer.

If something appears abnormal to your dentist, they will recommend you are re-evaluated or seen by an oral surgeon (for an evaluation and/or biopsy).

Feel free to ask your dentist about your oral cancer screening during the visit and any concerns you may have.
